Midterm proposal
Concept:
I have decided to make four dishes with four kinds of Chinese tea. The traditional Chinese tea culture has always been an important background as I grew up. Teas are only tree leaves originally, but they have became the symbolic sign because of the human society just like coffee and coke. I grew up in China and studied in England for one year and now I am studying in America, but I will always have Chinese tea as one of my daily drink and them remind me of who I am and where I am come from. Chinese teas are also representative of my personal characteristics as they have different properties themselves. Therefore I plan to cook potatoes with black tea, lobsters with Biluochun tea and pork ribs with Pu'er tea as combinations of my experiences in China, England and America.
Presentation:
The presentation is going to be a scene of my garden back in China. I will put dry ice on the bottom to create the smoke as the pond in my garden then put the plates on the dry ice with dishes in them. I will also use the pork ribs as the bridge on the pond and some tree branched and ceramic sculptures as the trees and rocks in the garden.
Timeline:
10/15 ---- Buy all the ingredients and do a practice run.
10/16 ---- Make adjustment if anything went wrong during the practice run.
10/18 ---- Make the jasmine jelly and store it in the refrigerator then bring to class the next day.
10/19 ---- Make all the other dishes and bring them to class.

Challenges:
The four kinds of tea may have different bitter tastes and I am not sure all the ingredients can go well as I expect since this is an experimental project, therefore I will have to run through the whole project before the class to make sure nothing goes wrong.
